Help Rebecca Stand Up to Medical Coercion

Rebecca Ashworth, a compassionate and highly respected registered nurse, devoted six years of exceptional service to Valley Health’s Neurosurgical Department at Winchester Medical Center. In 2021, after Valley Health imposed a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy, Rebecca sought a religious exemption in keeping with her deeply held beliefs. Despite granting exemptions to others, Valley Health denied Rebecca’s request without justification and terminated her employment, violating the Virginia Human Rights Act.

Rebecca’s case is about protecting the fundamental rights of workers to live out their faith without fear of unjust retaliation. Her courage in standing up to discrimination deserves our full support.

Rebecca has filed a lawsuit against Valley Health, asserting claims of religious discrimination under the Virginia Human Rights Act. She seeks to hold Valley Health accountable not just for herself, but for all those whose rights have been undermined in similar ways.

This legal battle is significant, but it comes with enormous costs. Filing fees, court costs, and attorney expenses quickly add up. Rebecca cannot do this alone, and that’s where we come in.

How You Can Help

Your donations will help cover:

  • Legal fees and court costs

  • Necessary resources for pursuing this case

  • Advocacy for religious freedom and worker protections

Every dollar contributed moves her closer to securing justice—not just for herself, but for others who face similar challenges.

Rebecca’s case highlights the importance of standing firm against workplace discrimination. Employers must respect the religious beliefs of their employees and make accommodations where possible. Supporting Rebecca’s fight is a way to affirm that principle and defend the rights of workers everywhere.

Your support—no matter the amount—makes a real impact. All donations are tax-deductible through the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Saint Joseph Fund for Constitutional Rights and Civil Liberties. Together, we can ensure Rebecca receives the justice she deserves.
